Class Timings and Attendance

 ● Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m., Monday to Saturday. Students are advised to arrive by 9:25 a.m. to attend classes punctually.

●  As per university guidelines, a minimum of 75% attendance is mandatory to appear in the semester-end examination.

 Dress Code

●  Students are required to adhere to the dress code of the institution at all times.

 Mobile Phones and Electronic Devices

●  The use of mobile phones and other electronic devices is strictly prohibited in classrooms, libraries, labs, and workshop areas.

 Identity Card

●  All students must carry their Identity Card while on campus and must present it when requested.

 Visitors

●  No guests or visitors are allowed in classrooms, labs, or the library during regular hours.

 Campus Cleanliness and Discipline

●  Students are expected to contribute towards maintaining the cleanliness and greenery of the campus.

●  Eatables and beverages are not allowed inside study areas, including labs, the library, and workshops. These should be consumed only in the canteen or designated areas.

●  Smoking is prohibited on campus.

 Resource Usage

●  Students must conserve electricity and water by switching off lights and fans when leaving classrooms or laboratories.

 Laboratory/Workshop Rules

●  Safety and academic norms must be strictly adhered to in all labs, workshops, and drawing halls.

●  Data storage devices and hardware attachments may not be removed from or added to the labs without prior written approval from the department in charge. Unauthorized actions will be considered as attempts at piracy/theft.

●  Students must handle computers and tools with care and follow all safety regulations to avoid damage to personal or institutional property.

●  In case of a medical emergency in the laboratory, inform the faculty member or technical assistant immediately.

 Library Rules and Service Hours

●  Library Timings: Monday to Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
○         Reading Room: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

○         Lending Section: 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

○         Internet Section: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

○         Membership Section: 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

 

●  The library may operate outside these hours under exceptional circumstances, subject to approval from the Librarian, Principal, or Executive Director.

Acts of Indiscipline

The following activities are deemed as acts of indiscipline:

●  Disruption or interference with the academic, administrative, social, or other activities of the institute, whether on or off-campus.

●  Use of abusive language or disruptive behaviour that disturbs the peace and rights of others.

●  Engaging in violent, threatening, or indecent behaviour.

●  Fraud, deception, or theft related to the institute or its staff.

●  Sexual or racial harassment towards any student, staff member, or visitor.

●  Damage or misuse of property, including library books, furniture, and equipment.

●  Unauthorised use of institutional resources or property.

●  Encouraging mass absenteeism or boycotting of classes, thus disrupting the academic environment.

●  Consumption of drugs, alcohol, or engagement in any illegal activity on campus.

Penalties for Minor Violations

For minor violations, the following actions may be taken at the discretion of the competent authority:

●  Warning: A first-time violation may result in a warning, which will not be recorded. However, repeat offenses will be documented.

●  Fines: A fine may be imposed for each infraction.

●  Withholding Benefits: Scholarships, grade cards, and offer letters may be withheld.

Penalties for Major Violations

For serious misconduct, the following penalties may be imposed:

●  Suspension or Debarment: Temporary suspension from the institute or being declared “persona non grata” (prohibited from entering the campus, attending classes, etc.).

●  Expulsion: Permanent expulsion from the institute.

●  Debarment from Examinations: Exclusion from exams for one year or more.

●  Other Appropriate Action: Additional measures as deemed necessary by the institution.

Penalties for Ragging

As per the Supreme Court’s ruling, ragging includes any disorderly conduct that causes distress, fear, or harm to a fresher or junior student. The following penalties may be imposed on those found guilty of ragging:

●  Withholding Scholarships or benefits.

●  Debarring from Representation in events or activities.

●  Suspension or Expulsion from the institute.

●  Withholding Results or academic progress.

This Code of Conduct is intended to maintain discipline, ensure a conducive learning environment, and foster mutual respect within the academic community at Royal College of Law.
